With over forty years of guitar playing, my background includes being a featured soloist for guitar concertos with symphony orchestras (see video footage here), playing at weddings and restaurants, composing, recording and earning a Bachelor of Music Degree in Guitar Performance from San Diego State University.
I began playing the guitar in 1972. After experimenting with various styles, I decided to focus on classical guitar in 1978 under the direction of Vicente Gomez. Maestro Gomez composed for classical and flamenco guitar and he and his music are featured in many famous hollywood movies in the 1940's and 1950's. In 1985 I pursued guitar studies with Los Romeros , the well known family of classical guitarists from Spain. From them I learned a new approach to the technical challenges of the instrument-a method of solving its seemingly complex technique in a systematic and relaxed manner. During this time I was residing in Los Angeles , then in 1987 I moved to San Diego to be closer to Los Romeros and enjoy more intensive studies. I also enrolled and San Diego State University where Celin Romero was on the faculty.
In the summer of 1990 I traveled to Salzburg , Austria to participate in a three week long master class of Pepe Romero. This was given at the Mozarteum in honor of the composer who was born there. That same summer I traveled to Malaga, Spain to attend a one week master class with 3 members of the Romero quartet. The following year, I went back to Salzburg to the same master class attended previously. In 1991 I graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Guitar Performance.
Since graduating, I have performed many guitar concerto's and recitals. In 2004 he released his first CD, “Romantic Evening” a collection of classical guitar music to create the perfect romantic mood.
I am now near completion of a long awaited CD of original music written in the New Age and Ambient music categories for guitar with symphony orchestra.
